Kingfisher Top

The most versatile sewing pattern I have made to date, variations of the Kingfisher top have dominated my wardrobe for the last 5 years.  Designed to be sewn in woven fabric with neck and sleeve bands in stretch, it can be made in short sleeve, 3/4 and long sleeves with either the stretch knit or traditional turn under hems. A pattern for all year round.

The raglan sleeve is easy to sew and the Kingfisher can be colourful in contrasting fabrics or more subtle in single coloured fabrics.

Sew it from polyester crepe, rayon, chiffon, soft linen, satin and cotton for a range of different looks. Versatile. Easy. Stunning.

The PDF pattern is available in sizes XS,S,M,L,XL and 2XL.

Each PDF file contains 3 different pattern sizes. Choose the size that best fits you and receive one size larger and one smaller as well.  Refer the Size Chart for help if you need.

  • DRESS FABRIC:
Most light to mid weight woven fabrics with a SOFT DRAPE are recommended for this pattern. Polyester crepe, polyester, rayon, chiffon and viscose are best. Soft draping cotton and cotton blends will also work.

Our samples are made up as follows:
    * Mustard floral short sleeve in polyester
    * Teal floral 3/4 sleeve in rayon
    * Contrast red 3/4 chiffon sleeves and white/red rayon bodice
    * Pink satin in sort sleeve
    * Blue/grey satin in 3/4 sleeve (Pattern hack with arm bands made wider)
    * Green floral 100% cotton with gathered neckline (Pattern hack instructions included)
    >Hover over the pics in the Gallery for information on fabric on particular styles

*Please also note that all (new) fabric should be pre-washed in case of shrinkage. Some fabrics will not shrink but 100% cotton, linen and rayon are almost guaranteed to shrink. It doesn't hurt to be safe and remove any dodgy chemical build up that may have occurred during printing anyway.

  • Suitable for Confident Beginners. The Kingfisher Top is able to be sewn with or without an overlocker (serger) to neaten the seams.
