Desert Dress

This all season dress is an easy sew, with so many opportunities to add your own creative flair.  We love the Desert Dress with a side trim, and you can add or reduce the number of gathered layers so no 2 dresses looks the same. 

Easily shortened to a top.

Base Pattern Features:
* Featured gathered neckline (into a neck facing or bias binding)
* Easy sew 3/4 raglan sleeves (which are also an easy flattering fit)
* Pull on dress (no zips or buttons) making it a super easy sew.
* Optional side trim (recommended for intermediate sewers)
* 2 Gathered layers adding feminine flow but balanced enough so it doesn't feel like (or look like) you are wearing a tent! (in the words of our testers!)
* Easily adjust the length of the dress - either maxi, midi or into a top.
* Works well when layered over the Undercover Dress for winter or colder climates

FABRIC

The Desert Dress is designed for light weight woven fabric with good drape.

We highly recommend rayon, viscose or silk  (in regular or crepe weaves). Light weight knit fabric (not stretch) will also work.

The light weight fabric still works in winter if layered over the Undercover Dress (a simple lengthening of the Undercover Top.

Fabric with more structure (anything heavier than a cotton lawn) will create a "fuller" looking dress.

*Please also note that all (new) fabric should be pre-washed in case of shrinkage. 100% cotton & linen will shrink during the first wash. It doesn't hurt to be safe and remove any dodgy chemical build-up that may have occurred during printing anyway.

PRINTING

Each purchase comes with 4 sizes (please refer to the last image for size chart and international size comparisons).

The following lists the number of pages to print for each size bundle

Small - (NZ/AU/UK 6-8-10-12  | US 2-4-6-8)                    A4/Letter=13   AO=1 page
Medium - (NZ/AU/UK 10-12-14-16  | US 6-8-10-12)        A4/Letter=15   AO=1 page
Large - (NZ/AU/UK 14-16-18-20  | US 10-12-14-16)        A4/Letter=15   AO=1 page

Please note that the gathered skirt sections of this pattern are simple rectangles. Rather than waste time and $ printing a rectangle, the measurements for these pieces are given in the instructions.

For printing in A4 or US Letter on a home printer. Printing at home is the most cost-effective, and sticking your pattern tiles together to make your full size pattern is easy. Further information for printing at home can be found in our Resources section here. 

3. Large scale Pattern file (AO) for taking to your local Print Shop 
AO is a large scale file designed to be printed at a Print Copy Shop. You cannot print this on your home printer as it is too big. If you choose to use this large file you will pay extra to have it printed but you do not have to stick anything together.

You can use the ADOBE LAYERS FEATURE to open the PAH pattern file and print only the size you need (and eliminate the "noise" of the unwanted sizes).
