If you are just starting out with sewing then this is a great place to be. You can make something new & fabulous to wear and learn new sewing skills at the same time.  We'll take you through a series of patterns - from easiest to a little more tricky so you can build your skills as you go.  All our patterns are designed to try and maximize your success. After all, our mission is to inspire a love of sewing across the globe.

We assume you know how to thread your sewing machine and how to sew a straight stitch, a zig-zag stitch and how to adjust your stitch length. If not, a quick google search on your machine make and model should help you out. Apart from that, you can learn new skills and techniques from our on-line tutorials as you start to make your garments.

The following is a recommended order to sew up our Hummingbird Collection, the earlier patterns become stepping stones for later ones.

So let's get started:

1	Halter Neck Top (FREE PATTERN)		Skills learnt: Print & compile pattern Cutting out fabric pieces Sewing Straight lines Hem a garment Create a tube for threading fabric or cord
2	Super Easy Shorts  (FREE PATTERN)		Skills learnt: Sewing curved seams Inserting elastic in waistband tube Adding embellishments (lace etc -optional)
3	Jumpsuit		A consolidation of skills learnt in 1 & 2 (halter neck top and easy short).
4	Not the Cold Shoulder Dress & Top		Skills learnt: Sewing a small curved sleeve hem
5	Hummingbird Pant Optional pockets  3/4 or full length		Skills learnt: Creating a double waistband (elastic and draw cord) Creating a triple gathered hem OR adding a stretch fabric hem.
6	Hummingbird pant (with optional pockets) OR Drop Crutch Pant		Skills learnt: Sewing an internal side pocket.
7	Hoody		Skills learnt: Introduction to sewing with knits
8	Contrast Tee		Skills learnt: Sewing darts Easing stretch neckband to woven bodice
9	Wrap Skirt		Skills learnt: Sewing buttonholes and buttons Adding external patch pockets (optional)
